Nissan Canada Inc. Breaks Sales Record in 2008 . Its good to hear some good news amongst all the gloom and doom reports from Detroit and around the world. The automobile industry is taking this recession hard.

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Jan. 5 /CNW/ - Nissan Canada Inc. (NCI) released its
annual and monthly sales figures today concluding another record-breaking
year, with total sales increasing for both the Nissan and Infiniti brands.
Total sales in 2008 for Nissan were 75,292 units and 8,159 units for Infiniti,
resulting in a calendar year total of 83,451. This breaks last year's record
of 76,783 by 8.7%.
For December, the Nissan brand accounted for 4,042 units sold while the
Infiniti brand accounted for 484 units. Versa led all models with 1,085 units
sold, while Sentra, Maxima, Murano, QX56, FX and EX35 all showed
year-over-over increases for the month.

- Total NCI sales were 83,451, an increase of 8.7% over 2007.
- Total Nissan sales were 75,292, an increase of 7.5% over the previous
year.
- Total Infiniti sales were 8,159, an increase of 20.8% over 2007.
- Versa led all models with 21,845 units sold.
- Sentra sold 11,000 units, an increase of 2,437 units (28.5%)
year-over-year.

NISSAN DECEMBER HIGHLIGHTS

- Total Nissan brand sales were 4,042 units.
- Versa led all models with 1,085 units sold, up 14.7% from 2007.
- Murano sold 330 units, an increase of 17% year-over-year.

INFINITI DECEMBER HIGHLIGHTS

- Total Infiniti brand sales were 484 units sold, up 16.6% over
December 2007.
- G led Infiniti sales with 190 units sold.
- EX35 sold 161 units in December while FX sold 99 units, up 4.2% from
2007.

NCI DECEMBER HIGHLIGHTS

- NCI sold 4,526 Nissan and Infiniti vehicles combined this month.

Total R35 GT-R Sales were 2 for December , and 137 cars total for the year.
