The GT300 class Nissan GT-R's are based on the GT3 class Nissan GT-R. The GT3 cars use the VR38DETT engine, and are rear wheel drive, unlike the V8 powered, and rear wheel drive GT1 cars that ran last year. In addition to GT3 racing in Europe, the car is being run in the GT300 race series in Japan. GT300, for "300 horsepower", with the cars being detuned to meet class requirements.
