Nissan GT-R Paint Codes: R32, R33, R34 and R35 Colors

Looking for a Nissan GT-R paint code? This reference covers the BNR32, BCNR33, BNR34 and R35 GT-R, including the colors most often requested for restorations and repaints: TV2 Bayside Blue, LP2 Midnight Purple, JW0 Millennium Jade and the later R35 special edition colors.

People usually arrive here for one of three reasons. Their GT-R needs accident repair, they are restoring an older Skyline GT-R, or they want to repaint another car in a factory Nissan color that was never available on that particular model year. The code is the place to start, but it is not the whole paint match.

Before ordering paint: verify the code on the identification plate or paint label of the actual car. Color names vary between Japan, North America, Europe and translated catalogs. Old paint also fades, repairs may already have been blended, and pearl or effect colors can have more than one formula variant. Have the shop scan the car and make a spray out card before painting a panel.

Important R34 correction: EY0 Silica Breath is widely repeated in GT-R color lists, but on the R34 Nür it refers to the engine cover finish, not a regular BNR34 exterior body color. The BNR34 wheel finish is commonly referenced as JP2 Outback Gold. Do not order either one as body paint without confirming the intended part and formula.

R35 Nissan GT-R paint codes

The R35 was sold for a much longer period and in many markets. Nissan changed translated names, model codes and available palettes over time. For example, the silver identified as KAB can be called Super Silver, Ultimate Metal Silver or a close variation depending on the market brochure. Match by the code and the car, not by the English name alone.

Later R35 heritage and special edition colors

Nissan brought several famous Skyline GT-R color names back during the final years of the R35. These are important additions to the original version of this article:

• 2020 50th Anniversary Edition: Bayside Blue returned with white racing stripes. Pearl White with red stripes and Super Silver with white stripes completed the three heritage liveries. Nissan described the revived blue as a four coat finish with a double heat treatment.
• 2021 and 2024 T-spec: Millennium Jade and Midnight Purple returned as T-spec exclusive colors in the United States. Nissan calls the R35 Midnight Purple a modern interpretation of R34 Midnight Purple III. Do not assume that ordering LX0 R34 paint recreates the R35 finish.
• 2024 Nismo: Stealth Gray joined the Nismo palette.
• 2024 Skyline Edition: Bayside Blue was paired with a Sora Blue interior for the limited North American edition.

Heritage name does not always mean heritage formula. R34 Bayside Blue is TV2. The later R35 Bayside Blue is generally identified as RCB. The same caution applies to revived Millennium Jade and Midnight Purple finishes. Verify the label on the donor car or the correct Nissan refinishing data for the market and model year.

How to get an accurate GT-R paint match

1. Read the code from the car. Do not rely only on registration color, an auction sheet, an online listing or what the seller called it.
2. Give the shop the chassis and model year. A reused Nissan code or translated name can create confusion, especially across Japanese and export markets.
3. Inspect every adjacent panel. A 25 year old Skyline may have original paint on one panel and several different repair formulas on the next.
4. Scan the existing finish. A spectrophotometer gives the painter a useful starting point for faded or previously repaired paint.
5. Make spray out cards. Metallic orientation, ground coat color, number of pearl coats, gun setup and clear coat all change the result.
6. Blend when appropriate. A perfect edge to edge match is difficult on aged metallic, pearl and color shifting finishes. Blending into the neighboring panel often produces the better repair.

Super Silver, the Midnight Purple family, Ultimate Opal finishes and other multi layer colors are not good candidates for a quick code only repair. Use a refinisher who understands effect colors and is willing to document the exact ground coat, coat count and application process.

What is the R34 Bayside Blue paint code?

The BNR34 Skyline GT-R Bayside Blue code is TV2.

Is the R35 Bayside Blue code also TV2?

No. The revived R35 Bayside Blue is generally identified as RCB. It is a later paint system and should not be treated as the same formula simply because Nissan reused the color name.

What are the three classic Midnight Purple codes?

The original R33 Midnight Purple is LP2. R34 Midnight Purple II is LV4, and R34 Midnight Purple III is LX0. The later R35 T-spec Midnight Purple is a modern interpretation, so confirm that car's refinishing information separately.

What is Millennium Jade?

JW0 Millennium Jade is best known as a rare R34 Nür color. Nissan later revived the Millennium Jade name for the R35 T-spec. Confirm the precise R35 paint specification before buying material.

Can a body shop match paint from the code alone?

The code supplies the base formula, but it cannot account for fading, previous repairs, application differences or formula variants. Scanning the car, making spray out cards and blending adjacent panels can be just as important as the code.
