Right there. Do not modify your R35. For all those not paying attention to that here are a few new parts sneaking up on the cars.
From the GT-R Blog and CBA-R35 GT-R Blog
Trust exhaust
This exhaust does not look like a preztel or some kind of metal bending experiment. Stainless 80 mm piping with titanium tips. 378,000 yen. R35 tax added in there. Alcon Rotors 1kg 2.2 lbs lighter than the stock rotors. They are also not cross drilled. Cross drilled rotors have a tendency to crack. Slotted is better for durability. They are around $1000 each for the rotor and hat. The CBA-R35 GT-R Wishlist.. Wheels, tires, ECU upgrades, suspension, etc. See if you agree with what he likes for parts.

2nd place - Nissan GT-R

Pobst wasn't blown away by Godzilla, ranking it only fifth due to a tendency to snap into oversteer at the limit (a behavior easily mitigated by not switching off the various stability systems). The rest of us, though, came away from our handling test thoroughly bowled over by the Nissan GT-R (2nd place). A review of the numbers shows high finishes everywhere: third in ride quality, fastest lane change, fifth in step-steer reaction time, quickest off-center steering response, a near-textbook figure-eight trace. Nissan's computerized, all-wheel-drive superstar works wonders, delivering lofty performance numbers and the deft handling feel that enthusiasts crave. So why didn't it win? As noted, its limit behavior when its stability computers are sleeping can be tricky. And while the GT-R is undeniably majestic at full bore, at more routine chores its supercar breeding vanishes. "Almost boring when all the computers aren't firing away," said tech editor Reynolds. "On the cruise home it felt like a Sentra."

From what I can tell from the Google translation. September 1st release.
The Nismo Sports Club package will be ¥ 5,460,000 ($50,854.44) including installation. It even includes a 3 year 60,000km warranty. Cheap package for 1/2 again the price of the car. Who said the Vspec wasn't going to be $130,000 ? The carbon seats were jointly developed with Recaro and weigh 6kg(13.2 lbs) each. They are pretty inexpensive at 1,890,000 Japanese yen =$ 17,603.46 U.S. dollars Gangsta. Thats all I have to say about the $17,603.46 titanium exhaust. It includes a new rear diffuser. Complain much about a $5k exhaust? There are a couple of weird things listed in the translation. Have to dig around a little more on the parts specifics.
Nissan R35 GTR VS 03 Cobra Roll Race
Dead stock GTR vs Cobra with bolt ons + smaller pulley + possibly more?!?. Racing from a roll....the car with more power wins.

Street legal racecar vs street cars. Its fast, but I am not that impressed. The ZR1 and the GT-R are both real street cars. Both with full amenities. The Dodge is a stripped out street car on real DOT R compound tires.
Well, they could (and did) bug Dodge-specifically, the Street & Racing Technology team-to the point that SRT said, What the heck, let's go for it. So SRT rented the Nordschleife for a half-day (at a cost of $2000 Euro per hour), shipped two ACRs over to Germany, hired a pro driver through Zakspeed (a race team that runs Vipers in the ADAC Zurich 24h Race at the Nrburgring), and hoped for good weather and, more important, a lap time quicker than 7:26.
This car was a 10 percenter not a 90 percenter.
A note on the two Viper ACRs: Except for a Racetech seat with a six-point harness, each ACR is factory stock and fitted with the Hard Core package, a no-cost option that cuts 40 pounds off the curb weight. About 10 percent of ACR customers order the HCP, which deletes the audio system, trunk carpet, rear cabin sound insulation, tire inflator kit, hood insulator, and steel battery cover.
A "stock" car that comes with engineers and 14 postion multi adjustable coil over suspension. You can do the same thing, you just need an engineer.
To address Coronel's complaints that the ACR is displaying light understeer in medium- to high-speed turns and its steering feels a little light, engineers stiffen the front dampers for both compression and rebound (up three clicks to position 11, out of 14 total) and the rear dampers for compression (again, up three clicks to 11). The adjustable rear wing, which offers seven hole positions with the seventh offering the most down force, remains in position three, while the front splitter stays at its initial setting (0) as does the ride height (0.5 inch lower than stock).
On the fourth run, another single hot lap, Coronel puts down the best time of the day, a 7:22.1, slicing over four seconds from the ZR1's time. It's not a sub-7:20, but it'll more than do. Per Shinedling, "Had we shortened the gearing and had more than a day to develop the car for the Nordshcleife, we probably could have dipped below 7:20, but we're very happy with our time, nonetheless." So is Coronel, who suggests the team celebrate with a round of beer at the famous Pistenklause restaurant. Everyone obliges, as there is much to rejoice and, let's face it, likely little time to enjoy it-undoubtedly, the ZR1 will be back as will the GT-R (rumors abound that a V-Spec version has lapped a 7:25). But for now, the Viper ACR is the most lethal 'Ringer around.Shorten the gearing ? Again is this a racecar or a street car. A tuner GT-R would be faster than this car at the ring. Apples to Apples comparision. A ZR1 on a real tire would be faster. Strip a couple hundred pounds out of the ZR1 and the GT-R and they will kill the ACR. Put the Cobb R35 GT-R or Amuse R35 GT-R at the Nurburgring and see what they do. Pro driver and an Engineer. I am not impressed.

NISSAN GT-R
BEST LAP (MIN:SEC): 1:40.453
AVG. LATERAL ACCELERATION: 0.628 G
SUBJECTIVE RANKING: 5TH
"Sweet!" gushes Pobst after his maximum laps in Godzilla. "Really comfortable on the track. GT-R can easily handle its power-I want more! Minimal body roll, but still good control. I could break the rear end loose when I wanted to, but when it went it really went. Steering is quick, very quick responding-which allowed me to catch the car easily. Really, it's a beastly car-not necessarily in a bad way. It's a visceral car to drive. A lot of fun." Which begs the obvious question: Given his enthusiasm, and the GT-R's impressive track numbers, why didn't Pobst rank the GT-R higher than fifth? "While it predominately understeers slightly, it can easily be provoked into snap oversteer. That was fun, but the GT-R is violent when it breaks loose; the R8, in contrast, drifts sweetly. The "R" mode really isn't a race mode-there's still a lot of stability control working, which is fine for the average guy but frustrating for me as a race driver. And before you turn stability control completely off, boy, you'd better have a lot of car-control clinics under your belt. The R8 is much more refined, a muscular dancer. The GT-R is a wrestler."
DODGE VIPER ACR
BEST LAP (MIN:SEC): 1:35.117
AVG. LATERAL ACCELERATION: 0.658 G
SUBJECTIVE RANKING: 7TH
On the numbers boards, the Dodge Viper ACR devastated the field. Quickest in the figure eight by nearly half a second. Most lateral grip by far. Fastest lap time by almost five seconds. Ah, but that was almost a given: With its adjustable suspension (tuned by a Dodge engineer prior to our track laps), downforce-churning rear wing, and huge, barely legal Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires, the Viper ACR is in all fairness a race car you can drive on the street. Pobst loves it. "We just made the jump to light speed! Just raised the limits of cornering and braking into another dimension. Tires felt grippier than many full-slicks cars I've raced. But when they break away, it's quick and it's big. Still, I felt in complete control." So how did this big black bat finish only seventh on Pobst's scorecard? "The Viper is high in terms of numbers," he says. "But it's brutal. It's like riding a bull. It's tremendous fun, and I love that there aren't any electronic stability controls, but if you're going to drive the Viper anywhere near its limit, you had better know what you're doing. It's not a finesse car. It's enjoyable but crude."
I am surprised this car was not very pissed off with just the rear drivehsaft removed.

The exhaust looks kind of like a pretzel.
Quad titanium tip. Stainless steel construction From now on this is dubbed the HKS Pretzel exhaust

The contenders, starting from the humble front-drive end of the field include Chevy's turbo-direct-injected Cobalt SS coupe and the Mini Cooper S. Front-engine/rear-drivers include a Mazda RX-8 with the new R3 handling package, BMW's rev-happy V-8 M3, Ford's highest-performing Mustang ever, the Shelby GT500KR, and Dodge's race-ready Viper ACR. Front-engine all-wheelers include the new Mitsubishi Evolution MR and newer Nissan GT-R. Contesting the mighty 911 Turbo in the mid- or rear-engine supercar class is Audi's stunning R8.
El Toro for some handling tests, then Mr Hotshoe himself - Randy Pobst in the cars at Laguna Seca.
STAY TUNED: Part two of our Best Handling competition will run this Wednesday (Aug. 27) and the winner story will run this Friday (Aug. 29). We'll have more videos throughout the week on each car.

The ZR1 produces momentous car-geek numbers: zero to 60 in 3.4 seconds, a 205-mph top speed, 7.26 seconds around Germany’s Nürburgring, 638 horsepower, and 604 pounds-feet of torque. To put it in context, there’s only a factor of 0.001 between the ZR1 and being punched full-on by Kimbo Slice.
I have heard from a friend, that he ran a Z06 up to 200 mph, measuring his speed with an electric eye sensor. I suspect the ZR1 will do 205 pretty easily.
Carbon-ceramic brakes from Brembo provide the kind of stoppage you’d expect from an arriving 737. These are the same high-heat-handling discs used in the Ferrari Enzo. Actually, as one engineer said, they’re the size of those on the track-only Ferrari FXX in the front and the lesser Enzo in the rear (did I just say “lesser Enzo”?).I wonder what the spec on the Spec V's brakes will be ?
Ultimately, the 2009 Corvette ZR1 may never score a single kudo from kids with pictures of Lamborghinis and Elisha Cuthbert in their lockers. Japanophiles who deify the 2009 Nissan GT-R will go on posting put-downs on Internet fan forums. And Chevrolet engineers who worked the ZR1 program will still sleep soundly as kittens. Yes, the ZR1 is that good.
Can't we all just get along? Actually I own more GM vehciles than Japanese vehicles. Well at least personally.

This is a few weeks old, but I never posted it up. Just ran across it again.
Each VR38 engine is built by a single, specially trained operator, who assembles about 700 parts during the 100 minutes that Nissan judiciously allots for completion of the task. According to Nissan, five primary steps make up the process of finishing the incredible 480-hp, 430-lb-ft, 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged monster V-6:
An exploded VR38DETT - edit - I didn't look at the picture too closely. Thats not a VR38.. Wrong picture in that Automobile article. Not literally exploded.Elsewhere in the factory, which builds four other types of engines, robotized carts roll around on tracks in the floor, carrying parts from station to station. Hilariously, the carts are accompanied by a sound track much like that of an American ice-cream truck, playing songs including “It’s a Small World” and “Swan Lake.”

That’s right, I wrote beauty. From the photos, many judge the GT-R as an ugly duckling, but from my unscientific poll of the dozens of people poring over the car at work today, I’d say the GT-R is one of those cars that is just not photogenic. It really is striking in person. Personally, I like the side profile best: it reminds me of a fighter jet.
I think its pretty fast from the drivers seat, but scary from the passenger side. I have driven a few 500, 600, 700 wheel horsepower cars. The GT-R feels like it is, a 400 whp car. Thats a fast car. In real life though, with the quick shifting, it adds up to be a little quicker than a 400 whp , 3800 lb car...but there is still nothing that can prepare you for the sheer exhilaration of mashing the throttle for the first time in the GT-R. I can tell you it is fast (oh, and it is), but until you feel your stomach in your throat — unfortunately, you just won’t get it.
James found his fastest lap during the cool 2nd session on Sunday while chasing a new Nissan GTR R35. His lap time of 1.36.200, was nearly a four second improvement over his TTA lap record setting time last year. The time earned the Takata Impreza the honor of being the Fastest Limited Qualifier for the Super Lap Battle,The GT-R was not slow. 3rd overall from what I can see from the standings.
1:36.200 for the Impreza . 1:36.875 for the GT-R
Here is a US spec R35 GT-R on 91 octane fuel dynoed on Harman Motives Dyno. It does 403 whp, which again is not bad on this type of dyno on pump fuel.

Stage1 for stock vehicles with 91 octane fuel. Stage 1 on the GT-R increases peak torque +60 lb. ft, peak horsepower increases by +55 WHP.
Stage1 for stock vehicles with 93 octane fuel. Stage 1 on the GT-R increases peak torque +70 lb. ft, peak horsepower increases by +63 WHP.Stage2 for vehicles with high-flow downpipes, race pipes, or turbo-back exhaust systems with 100 octane fuel. Stage 2 on the GT-R increases peak torque +90 lb. ft, peak horsepower increased by +70 WHP. This should wake up a few GT-R's for people. Maps for 91,93,97,100,102 RON

They ran the car in 4th and 5th gear, rear wheel drive on a 2 wheel Dynojet. Interesting, I would have thought the car would be all pissed off if you tried to dyno it rear wheel drive. 436 horsepower - 430 lb-ft of torque in 4th gear. Peaking at 14 psi of boost , dropping down to just above 10 psi.
Not too bad on power.
Ask Men.com Top 25 Summer Cars.Ask Men.com ranks the Nissan GT-R as the #1 Babe Magnet . I don't think whoever ranked these cars has actually spent anytime with Nissan GT-R's. If they had spent any time with one, they would realize its actually the opposite. Great guy magnet. Probably perfect for ugly women or gay men. Just like the older GT-R's. Its a mans car for men secure in their manhood. Ah, yeah. If you need a car to pick up women, maybe you really should rethink more than your car.

Heres some pictures of the Maisto pre-production Nissan R35 GT-R.
According to Maisto these are going to retail around $10 each. Not quite the details of some 1/43rd diecast models, but about 1/3rd the price. Less expensive R35 GT-R for everyone.
The NSX-R GT looked very smooth and balanced out on the track clocking a 1:25xx. (Billy can comment on this as he also drove it, I respectfully declined the offer out of fear.) The Mine’s R35 also clocked a 1:25xx which was also very impressive. So head to head it was pretty much even! It was good to see an older tech car with less hp and RWD be able to hang with today’s new AWD Japanese Super Car.
I took a few photos of the NSX-R GT when I stopped by M-Workz last week. For those interested the videos will be shown on gtchannel.com in the near future, its definitely worth watching as it compares the stock NA2 to the Spoon NSX-R GT to the Factor X Racing Unlimited NSX. Thank you Taro and crew at Zig Zag Asia!
The Skystang.Built for Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift. The car was actually pretty quick. I never got around to really tuning the car. I just made sure it ran and drove. Only running 13 psi of boost it did a mid 13 second @ 109 mph quarter mile on the 19 inch tires.
Auto ExpressI find it interesting that it won the catagory, when the car is not actually on sale in the UK yet. Not until next year actually. Their contest, their rules.
“Every so often, a new car comes along which is so far ahead of everything else that’s gone before, it sends shockwaves through the market. That’s what happened with the Nissan GT-R this year. Despite what Nissan claims, the GT-R is not making the advertised 480 horsepower.
In this case its more power. Nissans answer has been an efficient driveline. It might be efficient, or maybe this car just rewrites some of the correction factors that people use.
On MotorCity Speed’s Mustang dyno in Commerce Township, Michigan, GT-R No. 4 produced a peak of 415 horsepower at the wheels. Based on our 20-percent loss estimate, the engine output was 519, or 39 horsepower more than Nissan’s stated 480.
So what’s up? We called Nissan, and the company says the first four cars we tested were early-build versions that received regular engine-computer software updates, which may account for the varied results we recorded. We then wondered which engine-computer calibration was the one real-world GT-R buyers would receive.
Three weeks later, a fifth GT-R arrived. This one, allegedly, was a production version with the latest—and final—engine calibration. We took it both to the test track and MotorCity’s dyno.
This car performed nearly identically to the fourth car. It smoked the quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds at 120 mph and produced 420 wheel horsepower. We also measured the turbo boost pressure in both cars, and the curves were basically identical.
There are a couple of dyno charts, and boost pressure charts on the Car and Driver site. The prototype car actually made less boost than the production car.

Super Autobacs this Saturday. Let me know if any heritage or current GT-R owners want to come by. There is supposed to be an area for GT-R parking to mark the release of this new Best Motoring Video.
Its always fun to get a few GT-R's together. Autobacs 12645 Beach Blvd , Stanton, CA. R32, R33, R34, R35 GT-R's.
They say it hit about 175 mph on the bank. 1:48.82 at Redline Time Attack.
This approval means that at least one importer, a company called GT Compliance according to the RVCS (Road Vehicle Certification System) web site, can now import and comply the new GT-R for road use in Australia as a low volume ‘grey’ import. It also opens the door for other grey importers, since they now know it’s possible to do so.
Nissan Australia has been lobbying to stop the GT-R from obtaining SEVS approval. Nissan sees grey imports as a threat to business, despite the fact that grey import Skylines in the mid-90’s have probably brought as many people to the brand as the 200SXs, Maximas and Pulsars that Nissan Australia imports. With a halo model as desirable as the GT-R, Nissan fears these early imports could take the wind out of their marketing sails.
Australia gets R35 GT-R's early "grey market" but approved. Click though to a link to the SEVS report Under SEVS rules, the cars must be “new” (less than 300km on the clock) and importers can only bring in the GT-Rs until Nissan officially imports the vehicle. However, those who must have the fanciest toys immediately, and they don’t get much more desirable than the latest GT-R, might now be running to their grey importer with a fistful of yen.
More US guys getting cars. Dyno Comp ran a few Subarus in Time Attacks. It looks like an all stock car now. It will be interesting to see the way the US tuners go.

(3) Three six-footers and one five-foot-two-incher can drive around town in reasonable comfort for an hour, including a few full-throttle blasts and some corner-hugging turns. Trust me; I was there. The (lovely and talented) smallest passenger was admittedly sitting behind me, so that I wouldn't have the steering wheel in my lap, but the two other six-footers sat one behind the other on the passenger side, and they weren't complaining. This may have been partially because they were getting a ride in the GT-R, but nonetheless -- try that in any other sub-4-second 0-60 car.
four catalytic converters , a resonator, two mufflers and 25 feet of piping has a way of quieting a car down a little bit

I then pressed Nakamura to name specific cars that he admired. And he didn't hesitate. "I like the De Tomaso Mangusta, the 289 Cobra, and maybe most of all the Lancia Stratos." When I responded that the Stratos is one of my favorite cars, Nakamura turned squarely toward me. "Yes. It is so good."
I ask him about his most conspicuous design, the new GT-R supercar. What is the design theme, and how does it fit into the Infiniti/Nissan range? "Infiniti is female," Nakamura says. "There is much negative shape in the designs, shapes pulled in, tapered to show the curves. The GT-R, though, is male. Muscle upon muscle upon muscle. The whole shape grows outward. I designed it specifically to look brutal, like a modern 289 Cobra. It is not sophisticated like a modern Ferrari."
The Mines R35 GT-R was getting a little bit of work done. They put a new mid pipe with resonator on the car , carbon exhaust surrounds. I think they had a couple of other little parts in boxes, but I left before they put them on.
The Mines R35 GT-R has been in town for a few months. This is "one" of Mines Demo cars. This car was brought over here as a background car for Fast and Furious 4.It is supposed to be in an upcoming article for Road and Track Magazine , along with some GT Channel footage soon.

Well a new report from AutoTelegraaf says that the V-Spec will debut this October at the Paris Motor Show.
According to sources, the faster Nissan GT-R may not carry a V-Spec badge. That could clear up rumors for an ‘Evolution’ model - meaning the V-Spec may be called the ‘Evolution’ instead.
Sources also say that the Nissan GT-R variant will get an extra 100 horsepower for a total of 580-hp. With that will technical adjustments that will drop the weight by 200-lb.
I don't see Nissan calling it an Evolution, when Mitsubishi already has an Evolution. The article also says it should make a US debut in early 2009. They might mean 2010.
A summary of four laps. On the ring with traffic.

911 vs Lambo , DBS vs Vantage , GT-R vs Caterham. 13.12 0-100-0 for the GT-R, although it looks like it could have been a little quicker if the 1-2 shift was done a little earlier. The wet grass start at the end is good.
More honk three times and go...I hate this type of racing. Run it from a dig.

The factory Brembo brakes on the R35 GT-R are just that - factory brakes. They are huge, well built factory brakes. Adequate for most people under most circumstances. 6 piston front , 4 piston rear. 380 mm rotors front and rear. On a street car, you want a braking system, that is there when you need to do a panic stop on the 405 freeway. The traffic that was just going 70, is now going 0, and like a huge accordion , your stopping distance gets shortened by every car in front of you.
The factory caliper above looks like it weighs 5.3 kg ~11.6 lbs. Something else more interesting to me is the cooling holes drilled in the pistons. I don't know if any other factory cars have cooling holes in the pistons. The Brembo monoblocks we had on the World Challenge car had pistons like this. They supposedly help with cooling, and I am not going to argue with Brembo. The R35 GT-R factory calipers have a removable bridge that looks like it makes servicing easier. Probably not as stiff as some of the other 6 piston monoblocks they make. The GT-R is a street car after all.
Here's my take on brakes. We went to the PRI show a few years ago,and talked to a lot of companies about brakes. We were thinking of changing the Brembo 4 pot monoblock on the racecar to something else. We didn't have brake issues, but were just exploring our options.
Every company we went to sit down and talk to, started their sales pitch with "We are better than Brembo, because...."
Every company.
Well I wrote more on this post, then accidentally published over it. Opps. Back to the World Challenge car,it made a lot more sense to stay with what we had, change pads, and rotors, and see how it went. After all, everyone else was comparing themselves to Brembo. So now instead of what I wrote , I will put something else I wrote up a while ago. If you are going to the track, or enjoy some spirited driving, here are some things to try first.
1. Change the fluid. Motul 600 is good fluid. Its fairly readily available. It has a very high dry and wet boiling point. DOT 3 and DOT 4 Brake fluid attracts water and should be changed bled every year or so in a serious street car. More often if you are into that kind of stuff. Castrol SRF is the top of the top. Expensive, but well worth it in my opinion. We saw a dramatic difference in bubbles and fluid color going from Motul 600 to Castrol SRF.
2. Bleed the brakes well. A good bleed with give you a good firm brake pedal. The mushy wet duck feeling while standing on the brake pedal does not inspire much confidence.
3. Good pads. The definition of good would vary from person to person depending on application. For a street car, something with a good cold bite. Something that doesn't chew up calipers would probably be what you want. Hawk HPS seems to work well.
4. Brake ducts. Funneling air to the center of the brake rotor helps out a lot with brake issues. The cooler you keep the brake rotor, the less heat it transfers to the caliper. The less heat you transfer to the caliper. The less likely to boil the brake fluid. At least thats what I think happens.

Northone TV asked us if they could use our R35 for a feature on 5th gear TV channel 5. GTR vs 911 Turbo to see which will be fastest round the track and best car of the day.
we took our R35 GTR up to Anglesey. Ours is the first in the UK, not only first, it’s the first tuned as well. 5th gear actually contacted Nissan Europe, who couldn't provide them with a car !
Beautiful UK weather. Rain and lots of it. As 5th gear and Top gear have a big rivalry (top gear did GTR vs Bullet train on sunday) we were not really allowed to take any photo's and they would not tell us the exact times the two cars got round Anglesey due to confidentiality. Other than Bruno told us the GTR was way better and got the fastest time. I guess you'll just have to watch out for the feature when it hits TV scenes 25th Aug.
I also did this post on the GTR forum…
This year my R35 has been filmed by 5th gear twice, front cover for Car magazine, cover Evo mag, all over news features in redline, max power you name it…invited down to Mclaren F1, seen at a major video game launch, attended loads of car shows..

AUBURN HILLS, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GKN Driveline Torque Technology in Japan has recently received the prestigious Nissan Global Innovation Award for its contribution to the independent four-wheel-drive (4WD) transaxle featured in the all-new Nissan GT-R supercar.
Nissan’s Global Innovation Award recognizes suppliers for innovation in product and technology development as well as process and management improvements.
“Working closely together, Nissan and GKN Driveline Torque Technology shifted their driveline capabilities into a higher gear by developing the world’s first independent 4WD transaxle for the new Nissan GT-R,” noted Graeme Walford, managing director of GKN Driveline Torque Technology. “With the driver in mind, as well as a clear focus on vehicle dynamics, we were able to create harmonious vehicle characteristics, balancing speed and efficiency, high-output with environmental consideration and high performance and safety.”
For the Nissan GT-R, GKN Driveline Torque Technology supplies three key elements of the driveline from its Tochigi plant in Japan including:
* The high-performance, light-weight aluminum final drive unit (FDU). In order to evenly distribute vehicle weight throughout the car, the transmission, transfer case and FDU are all placed at the rear of the Nissan GT-R. GKN Driveline’s FDU was integrated into the transaxle.
* A powerful “1.5 way” Limited Slip Differential (LSD). This unit generates optimum traction and stability under all driving conditions and is fitted inside the rear FDU.
* The all-wheel drive coupling. GKN Driveline's Electro-Magnetic Control Device (EMCD) is fitted in the vehicle’s transaxle and controls an optimum power flow to the front wheels. The new EMCD has a lightweight aluminum case, improved responsiveness and higher energy savings by minimizing electrical use.
“Our GT-R products are truly advanced technologies and demonstrate GKN Driveline’s engineering and production expertise at the highest level,” said Walford. “The successful delivery of this project is a great credit to our team and represents another major step in the continuing success of our growing operations.
“We have worked very closely with Nissan on this project and we are very proud to have received Nissan’s prestigious award.”
GKN Driveline also supplies the front sideshafts for the Nissan GT-R.

At the end of the day Cobb Tuning’s awesome 2009 GT-R took the champion’s podium in the AWD PRO class (1:22:19), followed by Dr. Rick Edwards in a 2008 Mustang FR500S spec racer in the RWD PRO class (1:26:012), and a big golf clap to Erick Miller for rounding up FWD PRO in his 1993 Honda Civic (1:33:12). Worth noting, Steve Pepka in the Supra 6-powered 1971 Datsun 510 pulled a 1:31:294, pretty impressive for a nearly 40 year old chassis.

But the 160 also goes through a lot of small towns, nearly all of which drop the speed limit down to 35 mph. Combine that with a healthy population of vacationers towing trailers, and the pace can be infuriatingly slow when you're driving something like a GT-R. The upside is that it ends up averaging 20 mpg the whole time we're in Colorado. Still, next time I'll be taking U.S. 50.

The public release date for sales to begin will be set for August 18th.

Online magazine review and drive of the Nissan GT-R vs 911 PDK vs Audi R8 vs Aston Martin Vantage This is the first test/review I have seen of a Porsche with the 7 speed PDK transmission. It is, in short, the red winegum of sports cars: praise comes no higher
You have to know what winegums are to understand that.
"We've been chatting for over an hour now, and it seems like the conversation's just begun. The 57-year-old Japanese design veteran sitting across the table is as humble as can be, and though I was non-existent for him until yesterday, he speaks as though I am an old friend. It's a dream come true - the Nissan GT-R is one of my favourite cars, and I'm here, sitting face-to-face with the man who penned the legend - Shiro Nakamura.
Nakamura san is currently the Senior Vice President and CCO (Chief Creative Officer) Design & Brand Management at Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. but his illustrious career began way back in 1974 in Japan at the Musashino Art University in Tokyo where he graduated as a Bachelor of Art in Industrial Design. Following his graduation he joined Isuzu Motors Ltd. After that came a migration to the USA to attend the now-famed Art Centre College of Design in Pasadena, California. Armed with a Bachelor of Science degree in Transportation Design (1981), he went on to join General Motors Advance Design Studio in 1985. After a jump back to Isuzu in 1989 where he climbed up the ranks for ten years and gave the world what is till today regarded as one of the best looking SUVs ever - the Isuzu Vehicross, he finally made his move to Nissan in 1999. "
"Nakamura san is extremely cautious before giving out any information about the new Micra - the small car that will most certainly make its way to India. "All I can say is that it's an evolution of the existing Micra" he quips. We try getting more information out of him, but he's a wall of solid resolve. Instead, he gives us something else to think about, "There will be a new Z in November, and we're also working on a sports car smaller than both the Z and the GT-R. "
Hints at the upcoming - S16 , Siliva replacement car. Interesting that he went to school here in Los Angeles.

"...one Julio Nathal (who may or may not own an auto crushing business) was the first person in Texas to take delivery of the new 2008 Nissan GTR "Supercar," a car that boasts a 480-horsepower engine and, according to Wikipedia, can reach a top speed of 190 mph. The car most likely set him back a cool $70,000 or so, which I guess is good compared to Ferraris or Lamborghinis."

"BorgWarner (BWA:
BorgWarner Inc received a 2008 Global Innovation Award from Nissan in recognition of its innovative dual-clutch technology, used in the all-new 2008 Nissan GT-R. Launched in December in Japan and last month in the United States, the eagerly anticipated sports car is the first GT-R engineered for sale in global markets, the world's first longitudinal transaxle dual-clutch transmission, and the first Japanese transmission to feature BorgWarner's award-winning DualTronic(R) technology. "
"To create the exhilarating experience drivers anticipate in a premier sports car, BorgWarner worked closely with Nissan and its affiliate, Aichi Kikai, designing the transmission to incorporate four BorgWarner advanced DualTronic(R) technologies including the dual-clutch module, clutch control module, shift actuation module, and synchronizer assemblies. BorgWarner manufactures these components at its facilities in Arnstadt, Germany; Tulle, France; and Margam, United Kingdom. "
"Supported by manufacturing capacity at its facilities in the United States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, China and Mexico, BorgWarner expects to quadruple production of its dual-clutch technology over the next six years to 2.5 million dual-clutch transmission applications per year at full-launch of announced programs. "
I wonder how many will break in the coming months. I am sure the first broken US one is not far away.

Edmunds picked up their brand new Nissan GT-R, and this is the first installment of the story of driving it back across country. I wonder if its just a coincidence that this dealer is close to the brand new headquarters in Nashville. Nissan only moved in last week. Thanks for moving from Southern California.

Autoblog recently made a post about about a GT-R Evolution model, information they got from Best Car. The name has come up a few different times. I have not heard anything solid from any "big" sources yet. Supposedly the Vspec (ok Spec-V), has been delayed. In the meanwhile, this Evolution version.

Thats the breaks, I guess. Advanced car, takes some time to work things out. Maybe the current market, big losses for everyone, is making them rethink a $130,000 Nissan ? Pictures above are of what I was told was "Not just Super Taikyu" version of the R35 GT-R.

"I think this will be the first US production GT-R to be driven in something like this. We will be starting in NY on the 18th and driving to Las Vegas (with some stops at a track or two). The AKA Rally will be covered by SPEED channel this year and will be with us recording for a 6 episode miniseries to be aired in the winter.
If you want more information on the AKA Rally, you can check out their website www.AkaRally.com . I have also started a blog to document some of the prep work and the crazy stuff we will be doing during the rally and you can check it out here http://AkaRally.com/gtr "
Good luck with that. New York to Las Vegas.

"And now, only a few weeks into that test, we've bought something that makes the Evo look sluggish, simplistic and, well, attractive in comparison: a 2009 Nissan GT-R. Sure, we're a bit tired from the wave of adrenaline we've been riding, but for our dedicated readers we'll suck it up and spend the next 12 months putting 20,000 miles on Japan's 480-horsepower, all-wheel-drive sensation known colloquially as Godzilla."
"Total out-of-pocket cost: $73,165. Yes, we got it for MSRP. How? For starters, we started the search nearly nine months ago. We eventually signed a deal with Nissan of Cool Springs, a place that understands car enthusiasts that's in Franklin, Tennessee, some 2,500 miles from our office in Santa Monica, California. Within days of the official availability of the 2009 Nissan GT-R on U.S. soil, we sent Senior Editor Erin Riches to pick it up in Tennessee, and updates from the inaugural drive across the country will be posted in our Long-Term blogs."
"The next 20,000 miles are not going to be easy on the GT-R. A car that is supposed to beat the Porsche 911 Turbo should be prepared to haul ass for the long haul.
Keep up with the 2009 Nissan GT-R in our long-term blogs. Twelve months with Godzilla begins now.
Current Odometer: 3,752 miles
Best Fuel Economy: 20.9 mpg
Worst Fuel Economy: 13.7 mpg
Average Fuel Economy (over the life of the vehicle): 18.0 mpg"
Edmunds had mentioned back when they were testing Daryls JDM cars that they were buying a US model for a long term test. They should beat it up, and take it to the track a few times. I guess we will see how much of a "ringer" the press cars were.
"Everyone has an opinion about the added features that make a car stand out among the rest," said Jeff Curry, vice president, automotive marketing for SIRIUS XM Radio. "What the vehicles in the 'Coolest Car Challenge' have in common is that they are all equipped with XM, an entertainment feature that makes every driving experience truly 'cool.'"
To participate in the XM Coolest Car Challenge, entrants must visit XMCoolestCar.com to register and make their picks. The site also features brief overviews on each competitor, allowing participants to research the vehicles and reach their own conclusions. After they complete and submit their bracket, readers can check the site on or about November 18 to view the final four vehicles. The XM Coolest Car will be announced at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 19.
After November 24, readers can view the site again to view the vehicle selected as the XM Coolest Car for 2009, see how their picks fared against the editors and find out who is the Grand Prize winner of XM Coolest Car Challenge.
And here is the rest of it.
Sounds ok. Not as good as an inline 6, but still good. Better than the quiet stock exhaust.
